'67 Mothers single reissued

The interest for vinyl records is growing! This little golden nugget is planned for release again on November 23. These songs were recorded and released as a single in 1967. They were made available in 1989 again as bonus tracks on the Absolutely Free cd, but who can resist a vinyl single with such a neat record sleeve?

Where's the Album of the Month for October?

A few regulars might ask "Hey, it's October 6 already and no new Album of the Month announced. What's up?"

The answer is that waiting is what's up. Waiting for Donald Fagen's Sunken Condos that will arrive in ten days time.
In the meantime we're adding whatever Fagen solo stuff we have making sure that at least all tracks from one of his albums is in rotation at any time. We've had The Nightfly spinning, adding Kamakiriad and Morph The Cat this weekend. Plus some stuff that aren't on any of those albums.

Regulations and stuff puts a ceiling on how many tracks by one artist we can add to a playlist, but we'll be sure to fill our Fagen quota up to and beyond the release of Sunken Condos.

So October 2012 is, in fact, Donald Fagen Month here on Radio Dupree.

Donald Fagen Sunken Condos preview sound clips

Just ten days to go until it is released and a German site called Highresaudio and describing itself as "the first commercial music download service for audiophiles worldwide offering only high-resolution 24-bit albums and songs at sampling rates from 88.2kHz up to 384kHz", has published 30 second clips of all songs from Sunken Condos.

As a "bonus" we also for the first time get the length of each track, all clocking in at between 4:15 and 5:35. No extended jams this time around.

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER !
THE CLIPS WILL START PLAYING IMMEDIATELY - at least on your average PC and an Asus Eee Pad Transformer. Haven't checked it on a phone.

Thanks to Dan Belcher over on the dandom.com Bluebook who spotted the clips!

UPDATE OCTOBER 6:

A few European fans report - and we can confirm this - that the album is available to purchase as a download from the site after registering. As far as we can see what you get for for €21 = $27 = £17 = ¥2 153 are FLAC files in 24 bit 88.2 kHz quality. Sounding great but they may pose some difficulties playing if you're not ready to play around a bit with additional music players and settings.

Chart compiled by listeners voting
on the songs they hear on Radio Dupree

Our Album of the Month; Zappa's The Grand Wazoo, managed to grab two of the Top 10 this month. But the number one spot is won by King Crimson with a track from the bands 1995 album B'Boom. David Bowie  in a post-soul/pre-Berlin mood and Fagen/Becker from a pre-Steely Dan soundtrack make up the top three this time around.

Congrats also to Wayne Krantz making what we believe this is his first appearance on the Radio Dupree chart. As always determined by the listerners votes.
