Steely Dan 2013 tour in July - October?

A possible tour for Steely Dan in 2013 has been mentioned by Donald Fagen in interviews, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It's usually March, April before any news of a new tour is official.

That being said a post on the dandom.com Bluebook where Steely Dan fans gather has reminded the fans of a (possible) tour in 2013.

The cryptic "7/13-10/13" from regular poster Lewis - with a great track record of cryptic but correct inside information - has been interpreted as meaning the tour will start in July and end in October.

Someone suggested that if this really is a sign of a 2013 tour it could just as well be another one for The Dukes Of September (Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs).

We wait. And see.

UPDATE March 7, 2013: Yes! Two dates out in the open. See more here.

1974 Steely Dan concert named most downloaded in 2012 by Wolfgang's Vault

Wolfgang's Vault, according to Wikipedia's description a private music-focused company established in 2003 dedicated to the restoration and archiving of live concert recordings in audio and video format and the sale of music memorabilia. It began with the collection of the late promoter Bill Graham, and added multiple other music and memorabilia archives, named a 1974 Steely Dan concert the number one most downloaded for 2012.

Previously only available as a bootleg and apparently recorded by sound engineer etc Stuart Dinkie Dawson at The Rainbow Theatre, London, England May 20, 1974, it popped up on the Wolfgang's Vault site in 2011 together with another recording made at The Paramounth Theatre, Seattle July 1, 1974.
At that time we wrote a blog entry about the recordings' legal issues. Read it here!

Read an interview with Dinky from the April, 1992 issue of Steely Dan fanzine Metal Leg here.

Donald Fagen producing/recording with Oh Whitney in Mexico

OK. So we have been taking it easy over the holidays. And that includes blog updates. We have a couple of updates that just haven't been blogged yet. And probably will appear later this week. But this find from our friend Gina and Mizar6 had us switching on the old computer to log in and write this.

Here's a photo published on the Facebook page belonging to a group called Oh Whitney December 14, 2012 together with this text:
"Day 7 in the studio with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan and Rick Shlosser of Van Morrison. New album coming along swimmingly in San Miguel de Allende. Stay tuned...."

Rick Shlosser produced the bands debut album released in 2011, and is doing the same this time around.
Rick's drumming can be heard on hits like Van Morrison's Jackie Wilson Said and Dolly Parton's 9 To 5, just to name two. More on Rick here:

http://www.rickshlosser.com/

Donald is supposedly producing but by the look of pics like this one there's been some playing going on as well.

So. Oh Whitney? Here's how the band presents itself on the very same Facebook page:
Oh Whitney is a rock band. 'Rock' being, in this case, the indie rock kind. And alt-country. And some jazz + metal lurking in the drummer, rhumba in the bass player. Guitars more from the zeppelin angle. Songs written mostly from a blues + folk viewpoint.

Here are the people : Will Arnold (LA, US) plays electric guitars, Jose Juan Poyatos (Madrid, ES) plays flamenco guitars, Adrien Lorca Faunce (Nadal, FR) plays drums, Diego Noyola (Monterrey, MX) plays bass, and Peter More (TX, US) sings, plays more guitars and octofone. Ron Tomlinson does everything else.

Some additional info: Formed in 2008 at Duke University, North Carolina and played New York, the eastcoast and central Mexico 2008 - 2010 with a stint in Puerto Rico and Brazil after that.

And this is what they sound like:
