Make your own vinyl records at home!

Photo from the Kickstarter page.
With less than two days to go the Kickstarter fundraising campaign for DRC (Desktop Record Cutter) is a success.

Pledging 7 000 Australian Dollars (that's 5 969 US $, 3 672 £ or 4 687 €) would land you your very own disk cutting machine. But since that option is all sold out we'd go for the 85 AUD method of support giving you up to 15 minutes of your own music or whatever cut on a vinyl record by the guys behind DRC.

Happy Holidays!

As our social media feeds fill up with Xmas greetings we can somewhat smugly call ourselves ahead of the loop.

Stationed in Sweden Radio Dupree has the privilege of starting the holiday celebrations for real already on Christmas Eve.
So we've seen Santa arrive and leave, and we've eaten and drunk to our hearts content.

But to all you a late arrivals we say "welcome to the Holidays and enjoy it as much as we are."

Cheers!

Michael Leonhart produced Kickstarter project from G. T. Thomas

"150 copies of interactive art odyssey – set to the tune of 8 exotic pop songs on collectible vinyl postcards."

That's how Postacard from your mind is presented on the Kickstarter page started by G.T. Thomas.
Who's G.T. Thomas? Well, we first heard of her as a Steely Dan fan way back and then she did a record in 2011 titled The Lucky Pedestrian Years. We played it here on Radio Dupree.

She's currently living in Amsterdam, Holland and her plan is to raise the money to get this latest project done with Steely Dan band member and solo artist Michael Leonhart.

Read more about the Kickstarter project and if you like what you read consider backing it. (Deadline is December 13!)
Here's the first song from the project:

Steely Dan's Aja and Gaucho out on SACD again

Steely Dan's Aja from 1977 and Gaucho from 1980 has just been released once more on SACD in Japan.
We at Radio Dupree thought that this audio format was long gone, but apparently not!

Both releases based on DSD masters made in 2010 from the original analog tapes.

Expect them to be available as expensive imports where you live (if it's not in Japan), but with the online options around these days a better price is just one or two clicks away!

More on the SACD format.
OK. So what's this DSD then?

What Zappa music would you like to hear today?

Frank Zappa died on December 4, 21 years ago. What Zappa piece or album do you think is appropriate to listen to today? Let us know. Write a comment below!
Anyway, the Radio Dupree staff has loaded the playlist with as much Zappa we are allowed to play. (Yep, live365.com has certain rules about that, but there is still room for a lot of good music).
