Thanks to Aldo in Rome we're pleased to report that Steely Dan are back on the front page as one of the acts slated for Umbria Jazz 09 between July 10-19 in Perugia, Italy.
February 9 we wrote how the band had been up there and then disappeared. We did however find a mention in a press release buried a few clicks into the site that mentions Steely Dan as one of the acts slated for 09.
The fact that they are back on the front page must be a positive thing for all of us who'd like to see Steely Dan play some European dates.
Keep in mind that there's been no official news from the band itself about any touring at all. But if Steely Dan is heading out on the road this summer we could maybe expect to hear it in March, just like we got to learn about the big Heavy Rollers US-Europe-Japan-Australia_NewZealand tour 2007 that very same month. They have to start selling those tickets!
If there's a tour will it include more than Europe and USA? Maybe Japan or a repeat of the 2007 tour with gigs in Australia and New Zealand? Questions, questions ... and no real answers. Yet.
P.S. Also added to the front page of Umbria Jazz 09 are George Benson, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Haynes, McCoy Tyner, Gino Paoli, Stefano Bollani, Enrico Rava and Francesco Cafiso.
Here's hoping we'll have some official confirmation no later than next month!
And a big thank you to Aldo for the heads up.
they like Italy i guess. nice weather and all.
ReplyDeleteMizar6 is also back with a steely-ish post lol.
yeah, who could have thought ....
ok.
Hope Mr Lukather "delivers the goods", so to speak. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteWe're currently in the midst of counting the non-money we've made on Radio DUpree with hopes to spend them on a trip to see at least a couple of the European Steely Dan shows this summer. That is, if there ARE any.
Anticipatingly awating official confirmation...
