Recorded in 1967 by an enthusiast.
The release of the Pink Floyd 27 CD/DVD box The Early Years includes a recording of a concert in Stockholm shortly before band leader Syd Barrett left the group. Sveriges Radio has an interview today with Anders Lind, the guy who was allowed to record the show. Unfortunately, the vocals are bearly audible on the recording.
"It was because of a failed PA system. Back then there were no big sound systems. Afterwards I was disappointed and the reels sat on a shelf for years."

Previously you had said:
ReplyDelete"The Golden Circle tape is probably the only existing recording of an entire 1967 Pink Floyd concert. Yesterday we were allowed to hear all of it except one song. More on that and the possible release of the recording, coming soon here on the Radio Dupree blog."
Was the "except one song" the first song, "Reaction In G"?
Also, the taper said the lack of vocals was due to a "non-existent P.A." But you can hear Roger on "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" (albeit low in the mix). It seems strange that the instruments can be heard just fine but not the vocals. I wish the taper had said whether he remembered if the vocals were actually audible during the gig while he was listening, instead of commenting on the lack of vocals on the recording.
Hello, sorry for the late reply. Well, since the recording was made with two microphones in the concert room (as opposed to a lined source from the tiny PA) the taper got the sound the way the audience heard it in the room. As we understand he had pretty nice equipment for the time, a Revox reel-to-reel machine with a pair of quality microphones. What might happen is you may not think of such a thing as low levels of vocals as you see the singer performing, but when you listen to the recording only - the low levels may struck you. And yes, as you probably have found out now, the song that was not played to the audience at the event at Gyllene Cirkeln in 2011 was the opening number Reaction in G.
