New Donald Fagen interview

Here's the link to a new interview with Donald Fagen in Rolling Stone. Mostly about the Dukes of September Rhythm Revue tour he is out on with Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs, but a Steely Dan fan can spot a few addiotional tidbits:

- The Steely Dan tour of Australia in November that was mentioned in a Billboard article looks less likely to happen as the Dukes of September is adding some dates in December. Quote:
We're gonna do some more Dukes dates in December. There's been a lot of requests for these shows and now that people have seen them, we're getting lots of requests to do more.

- A new Steely Dan album is definitely a possibility. It will just take some time. Quote:
We've been talking about an idea for a couple years. You know, hopefully we'll get around to it. We've never rushed. Were from the mid-'60s generation or something where you know — it's not show business for us.

- And Donald will get back to finishing his new solo album once the Dukes tour is done. At the same time Walter Becker seems to enjoy some free time. Quote:
We need a summer off, just to cool it for a summer. He (Walter) was working on his own project and I had started one too, which I'm going to get to as soon as this is over.

I suppose the Becker project mentioned is his 2008 album Circus Money, or could it be something new? Recording? Producing? Writing that musical based on Steely Dan songs?

The Dukes should come to Europe. But i can imagine it's a lot of work. time and money consuming.

Yes. I doubt that will happen. In the meantime we can wonder about what Walter is up to these days. Here's another article where Donald mentions a "solo project".
