Levon Helm in final stages of cancer

From the levonhelm.com website:
Dear Friends, Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey. Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration... he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! He did it every time he took the stage... We appreciate all the love and support and concern. From his daughter Amy, and wife Sandy
billboard.com Levon Helm article here.

Over on facebook Robbie Robertson, former band mate with Levon in The Band, posted the following:

Last week I was shocked and so saddened to hear that my old band mate, Levon, was in the final stages of his battle with cancer. It hit me really hard because I thought he had beaten throat cancer and had no idea that he was this ill. I spoke with his family and made arrangements to go and see him.

On Sunday I went to New York and visited him in the hospital. I sat with Levon for a good while, and thought of the incredible and beautiful times we had together. It was heartwarming to be greeted by his lovely daughter Amy, whom I have known since she was born. Amy’s mother, Libby Titus, and her husband, Donald Fagen, were so kind to help walk me through this terrible time of sadness. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Sandy.

Levon is one of the most extraordinary talented people I’ve ever known and very much like an older brother to me. I am so grateful I got to see him one last time and will miss him and love him forever.

-Robbie Robertson
UPDATE April 20, 2012:

Levon passed away on April 19, 2012.

From bobdylan.com:

In response to Levon’s passing

He was my bosom buddy friend to the end, one of the last true great spirits of my or any other generation. This is just so sad to talk about. I still can remember the first day I met him and the last day I saw him. We go back pretty far and had been through some trials together. I'm going to miss him, as I'm sure a whole lot of others will too.

ABBA documentary cancelled from broadcast

The ABBA documentary that was planned for broadcast on SVT, Swedish public service TV, has ben cancelled.
The broadcast of the Dancing Queen documentary was set for April 10 but one week before that SVT changed the plans. The reason behind that was that the production company had problems with the rights to the material. SVT explains that they do not know if or when the documentary will ever be broadcast.
The documentary deals about the recording of the song
Dancing Queen and also includes a newly made interview with two ABBA members, Björn Ulvaeus och Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Chart compiled by listeners voting
on the songs they hear on Radio Dupree

Carole King does what few women have managed during the existence of the Radio Dupree chart; make it to number one! But she does. And we're happy for her. Our Album of The Month made number 8 and makes a couple more showings in the largest chart we've compiled. Ever. A Top 60. Just because you keep voting to make it possible. And it makes sense; if you listen you should be able to say what you like and don't like. What you would like to hear.

Will Donald Fagen beat ... Donald Fagen?

Jay's soon out!
Once again the race is on! Who'll be the first to get his record out; Donald Fagen, the solo artist or Donald Fagen, the guest musician?

On one hand there's Donald's fourth and still-without-a-title solo record. And not leaked. Could've been out in 2011. Some reports suggested it. May be out in 2012. Some other reports suggest that.

And then there's Donald Fagen as a guest on a record that definitely will be out this month (April 2012). It's titled... wait! No, there's another album with no name. But we know the name of the artist. It's Jay Colins.

He's a saxophone player that has been around a while. Played with some big names and his own band. Read more about him here:
http://www.jaycollinsband.com/about/
And do not miss the final sentence on the page:

Jay’s new CD is coming in April 2012 and features guest spots by Fagen, Helm, and Larry Campbell. Watch for it!”

Radio Dupree's money is on Jay's record being released before Donald's is.
