Another singing movie star!

Early March we added actor Samuel L. Jackson singing/talking the blues in Stackolee to the playlist.
It is a song from the soundtrack to his movie Black Snake Moan. Read more here.

This month we're surprised to get Salma Hayek delivering a nice vocal on the track Siente Mi Amor from the CD Mexican Spaghetti Western. The CD is from director Roberto Rodriguez band Chingon.

(Almost) Weekend music: Sahara Hotnights

Not just to get a new post up here, but a chance to show off a band that started out garage/rock more than 10 years ago and has moved towards pop; Sahara Hotnights. A Swedish band originally from a small town not far from where Radio Dupree HQ lies. And that's another good reason to feature this brand new video:

Cleaner destroyed Beatles pics

Seven original photos of The Beatles were sent to a waste compactor by an inexperienced cleaner when cleaning an office at EMI's photographic office in 2001.
www.telegraph.co.uk reports that EMI now is suing the cleaner's employer, claiming the pics to have been "historically important and valuable" and worth £700,000.
One of the photos was used for the Please, Please Me album. Except from the Beatles photographs, another 452 transparencies and negatives were destroyed that evening when the cleaner worked in the EMI office.
