During her visit to Umeå, Sweden, and the MADE festival recently Nina Hagen became official ambassador for Umeå as European Capital of Culture 2014.Fredrik Lindegren, artistic director of Umeå in 2014, explains that Nina is in many ways an ideal ambassador for Umeå's soul, character and style:
"She is the icon of punk rock and a passionate person who is not afraid to challenge."
Hagen's role as ambassador is not discussed in detail, but her contacts and networks in Europe's musical life is said to provide opportunities for many exciting musical projects for 2014.
