A synthesizer will only sound as good as the samples themselves, the range, bit-depth, et al. Most synths use one sample per octave+ and "stretch" it in order to map it across the keys. As well, they're usually 16-bit, 44.1Khz samples, meaning that even in the event that you should record it in 24-bit at whatever Khz, the sound quality/resolution of the synth isn't going to magically increase. Digital synths' greatest strength is the convenience of multiple sounds at your fingertips. Technology has improved dramatically over the years and you can always connect your digital synth to your PC to utilize high-quality sample libraries.
I would trade my working Arp Odyssey for that framed destroyed-by-DF one in a heartbeat.
Yeah. Had us wondering if that "artwork" is still hanging on the wall or whatever happened to it. Would be nice to see a photo of it either way!
