Tickets for Steely Dan in Norway on sale today

With all the unsupported "facts", "inside information" and rumours flying about we subscibe to the idea that if it's not on steelydan.com it's not official. What if it's on current keyboard player Jeff Young's homepage? Close, but still not 100 percent.

So let's just say it looks likely that Steely Dan will do a European tour in July, hitting a few jazz festivals. In fact, one of those jazz festival gigs can be called more than a rumour. And as of 9 a.m. Central European Time today you can buy tickets to the show at Molde Jazz Festival i Norway July 19.
Steely Dan gets a shared billing with Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint. Tickets priced at 480:- + a 20:- fee. It adds up to 500 Norwegian kronor = $81 = £42 = 120 German Mark or 62 Euros.
It's outdoors and unnumbered. Here's a direct link to the Norwegian version of Ticketmaster:

And here's a link to Molde Jazz Festival. Very little info in English so far and Steely Dan, Elvis & Allen are the first and only artists mentioned of the 2007 lineup. The complete program will be posted late March.

That's Kolbjørn Venås, drum teacher and musician interviewed by the local Norwegian newspaper Romsdals Budstikke.

The headline reads "Steely Dan-fan cheers" and the article starts off by saying that Kolbjørn felt chills down his spine when he heard the news that Steely Dan is scheduled to play Molde Jazz Festival July 19.

He has a hard time to rank the Steely Dan albums, but pressed by the reporter he picks Gaucho as his absolute favourite. It was the first Steely Dan album he heard back in the mid-80s.

The newspaper has a webcam showing downtown Molde:
