see you around!
all the best,

If you need something to help fill the all-new Mizar 5 I think we owe you an article from late last year... ;)

Wonder if he'll do the autograph in blue or black, use a pencil or pen? Guess we'll know early July.

is this a dvd-audio disc set? can't find much information about. I don't think i'll buy this unless it features advanced resolution surround mixes. dts/dolby not good enough for me :(

Hi anonymous,

Your question is "is this a dvd-sudio disc?"

We at Radio Dupree grew up when ads told us that a stereo system at 60 watts sounded twice as good as a 30 watt, so please forgive us if we're a bit lost here.

The Nightfly Trilogy is released in a new format called Music Video Interactive (MVI). The main selling points seem to be all the extras. Let's see how BestBuy explains MVI:

"MVI discs play in all standard DVD players, and in computers and gaming consoles with DVD drives. Like standard DVDs, they cannot be used in CD players. MVI disc contents can include:

* Full album audio with superior sound quality
* MP3 files of all album tracks, for easy transfer to a PC and digital music player
* Video interviews, behind-the-scenes documentaries and other video content
* Interactive features that let you create your own ringtones or audio/video mixes
* Digital booklets
* Online access to additional artist info
* Song lyrics, photo galleries, posters, wallpapers, buddy icons and other extras"

Now, what does "superior sound quality" mean? The Fagen press-release says the boxed set comes in "DTS 5.1, Dolby 5.1 and PCM Stereo mixes".

We can't guarantee that "PCM Stereo" means 96 kHz/24 bit sound, but that's what's available on two other MVI releases just out; Rush and Linkin Park.

Another thing we're curious to hear is the Kamakirad mix. In an interview Donald said something about getting the chance to remix the whole album as he had mixed the vocals a bit low in the original.

And what will those links to Internet sites include in theway of goodies?

I guess once again it is up to time and waiting to get the answers...

Thanks for the reply, Neb/Siggy!

I guess we'll have to wait and see but based on the description I'm afraid it's just a dvd-video disc with stereo mix pcm 96/24 and surround mixes dts/dd. But on the other side it would be very silly not to include hi resolution surround mixes in such a 'deluxe set' when they have already been released on dvd-audio... why downgrade??

...couldn't care less about the mp3 and all those useless features
